Standard handling er følgende:

- Unormal terminering af processen.[XSI] Ekstra implementerede termineringshandlinger som at kreere en core fil, kan forekomme.
- C
- Fortsæt (Continue) processen, hvis den er standset, ellers, ignorer signalet.
- I
- Ignorer signalet.
- S
- Stop processen.
- T
- Unormal terminering af processen. Processen er termineret med alle konsekvenser som exit() bortset fra at status givet til wait() og waitpid() indikerer unormal terminering af signalet.
